Amazon Mexico Takes Off – ¡Órale!
Amazon recently set up shop in Mexico; number 16 in its suite of nations rushing to quench the shopping needs of its 182 million monthly visitors. As it expands into this emerging market with a catalog of 13 categories, established Amazon US sellers are the best-placed of all to ride this wave of expansion, provided they can offer Spanish customer support.
Mexican Customers? ¡Sean Bienvenidos!
Lo and behold, Amazon Mexico is here; eager Amazon has already enlisted the help of several industry heavyweights to grease the wheels of progress upon entry into Latin America’s second largest economy.
This demand for local expertise is due to certain market peculiarities that US-based Amazon sellers will undoubtedly be familiar with. These are mainly to do with the language barrier and the way transactions are carried out across the border, which makes it imperative to offer Spanish customer support.
Dispatch Dilemmas
For US-based sellers looking to sell in Mexico, the issue of shipping upgrades could make up the best part of their customer communications, even if there’s nothing Amazon sellers could possibly do to speed up delivery. You could just see that inbox chock-full of urgent emails, couldn’t you?
In a Payment Pickle
Half of all Mexicans aged 14 or above don’t bank at all. Mercado Libre, for instance, currently the largest online retailer, accepts cash-on-delivery, credit installments and Oxxo vouchers, while Walmart accepts government issued vouchers, on top of credit cards.
As of now, Amazon Mexico only accepts credit, debit and gift cards. Can you just see those prospective customers lining up to ask if there’s an alternate payment method? Of course, there’s nothing that can be done, but those emails won’t be sorting themselves out, will they?
Language Barrier
You’ll quickly find that you’re in over your head if you read Jeff Bezos’ greeting letter to the Mexican market. Just click on his example of a unique, original Mexican product listing. You may not be able to make heads or tails of an Amazon Mexico product page if you’re not particularly well-versed in the romance language.
But this is where we come in. We offer expert Spanish customer support services, and we’re ready to unleash a range of discounts to give your business a boost. As they say in the Estados Unidos Mexicanos, ‘si quieres dinero y fama, que no te agarre el sol en la cama’, or ‘the early bird catches the worm’ to us monoglots.
