We’re back from Seattle, and reliving the Sellers’ Conference for Online Entrepreneurs event this year was more exciting than ever! Despite welcoming about the same number of participants as always, the event brought together merchants who were even more driven than before. They boasted even more complex business models than in previous years, which really tested vendors’ capabilities and how customizable their products really are.
Read on to find out what were the main focus points at SCOE 2015.
SellerEngine Presentation
SellerEngine had two booths this year, but happily enough, we had a team of 9 always on hand at the conference. In our presentation delivered before a full house, we outlined the newest features of our software and app, and really brought our Services team in the limelight. Our experts kept the slide shows short, to give the audience more time for Questions and Answers. We happily replied ‘Yes’ to most of their requests, and illustrated how well our services packages complement our software options.
One on One Sessions
Once again, the SellerEngine team was the only one to offer one-on-one talks at SCOE. Apart from the usual clients interested in Sellery, this year the Services team tended to a cluster of account suspension cases, account performance enhancing requests and discussions on international expansion packages. Making time to really listen to each merchant, and seeking to understand the needs of their business model continue to be worthwhile efforts to us.
Vendorland and Presentations
Vendorland was pretty busy this year, too. With the new table layout, people passing by had a booth on one side and another one opposite that, so information was coming from all directions. The predominant topic this year at the Focus Groups was notifications from the Performance Team.
Moreover, a lot of the Presentations focused on how to deal with Product Quality complaints, how to stay safe as a manufacturer of the products you sell, and how to get bona fide reviews to increase the visibility of your products.
The three former Amazonians who took the stage, Rachel Greer, Chris McCabe and Peter Kearns, were flooded with questions about how to best communicate with Amazon when your message does not get through. Amazon account suspension was on everybody’s lips, either due to experiences from their recent past, or because this is the boogeyman they expect right around the corner.
Expanding to Mexico was, of course, brought up on several occasions, but people still err on the side of caution, and seem to be waiting for others to take that first step.
Business aside, SCOE 2015 was definitely a good opportunity to touch base with some of our older clients, and to make new friends as well. The 2-hour networking session still works its magic, and is one of the best opportunities to get some really good input from everybody attending the conference. Rhonda’s done it again; another successful conference under our belt!
We’re excited about the upcoming SCOE Philly scheduled for March, and we’re already cooking up some ideas. Will you be there?
