One of questions I get from Amazon sellers all the time is, “Is my business/inventory/sales big enough for me to start using repricing software?”
This can be a tricky question to answer and depends on several factors. Keep reading to find out more.
Does Inventory Size Matter?
Many sellers believe that if they have a small inventory, then repricing software isn’t for them.
I disagree. Repricing software can work for sellers who have one SKU or one million SKU’s.
When sellers have a small number of SKU’s, they need to focus on maximizing the value of every sale. The best way to do this is to experiment with strategies using automated repricing software like Sellery.
As your inventory grows, you’ll continue to rely on automated software to maximize profits, as well as to make sure that you’re competitive with other offers and not losing money on the sales you do make.
Even if you are currently able to manually reprice the inventory items you have now, remember that:
- This won’t always be the case as your inventory grows.
- Unless you never sleep and never step away from your computer, you won’t be able to reprice as effectively as a round-the-clock intelligent repricing solution.
What About Sales?
Intelligent repricing software isn’t free. Sellers with smaller inventories and lower sales, worry about how much such software costs.
I’d encourage you to think of repricing software as an investment in your business. Repricing software should increase your sales by more than it costs. If it isn’t paying for itself, either directly through increased sales and profits or indirectly, through time you’re saving and investing in your business, then you need new software.
Start Sooner Rather than Later
In my experience, the longer sellers wait to get started with repricing software the more trouble they have adjusting. Usually this is because larger sellers have more established habits and workflows that can be difficult to change.
Sellers who start making automated software part of their businesses early are more easily able to make repricing an integral and lasting part of their business. Plus when using software like Sellery, sellers develop a better understanding of the costs of selling on Amazon (thanks to Sellery’s minimum price calculation), and will have a better understanding of their inventory, their sales and their competition. And the sooner you can have this information, the better!

Paul,
I don’t understand how this works. If a million sellers use SELLERENGINE to automatically reprice their inventory, how long before everyone is selling books for a penny?? It is impossible for EVERYONE to have the lowest price on line, but is possible for the price to drop to the point where it is not worth listing, and not justifying the expense of SE, let alone Amazon fees. Also, are sales verified by giving SE access to seller’s computer, unregulated?
Thanks for your response.
