There’s been some exciting news this week. One of our favorite events made a big announcement, analysts predict that Amazon’s sales may match Walmart within the decade and Pulitzer Prize winning books see a huge sales boost.
SCOE 2012 Announced – The Seller’s Conference for Online Entrepreneurs (SCOE) announced the dates for this year’s event! It’ll be taking place from September 29th to October 1st at the Seattle Airport Marriott. We can’t wait! Hope to see you there!
Pulitzer Prize Winners See Huge Spikes in Sales – Check out those huge jumps in Sales Rank for this year’s Pulitzer Prize winners. Life on Mars, a book of poems by Tracy K. Smith jumped from #35,886 to #101 overnight! Bet you sellers out there wish you had a few copies of that title in stock!! Even nominated non-winners like Swamplandia saw big increases as well.
Will Amazon Catch Walmart by 2017? – Analysts predict that by 2017 Amazon will hit $200 billion (USD) in yearly sales, which will put it just a bit behind Walmart’s non-grocery sales. With 2011 sales of $48 billion it will take 27% yearly growth to reach $200 billion by 2017, significantly below recent growth rates. With grocery sales currently accounting for nearly 50% of overall Walmart sales, should Walmart be that worried?
