Start scanning faster with a bluetooth scanner

  • March 24, 2014
Reading time: 2 minutes

Important Note: If you are planning on using this scanner with Profit Bandit on an Android device, you will need to purchase a license for Serial Magic Gears in addition to Profit Bandit’s Bluetooth Plugin. The Serial Magic Gears license is optional, but if you don’t buy it, you’ll see a pop-up message every few scans and will need to rescan.

Are you spending too much time focusing your phone’s camera on barcodes? Or are you scanning items into your inventory, but are tied to your desk because of your USB scanner’s cord?

Well, there’s an answer. And it’s a bluetooth scanner.

Keep reading to learn more.

The Opticon OPN2005

Opticon OPN2005The Opticon OPN2005 is our favorite bluetooth scanner. Period.

The OPN2005 easily connects to an iPhone/iPad, Android phone or tablet, or Windows PC or Mac.

This bluetooth scanner works great with Profit Bandit, Sellery and many other listing and inventory management software programs.

In our tests, we’ve been able to scan a barcode in less than a second. Just press the button and place the laser across the barcode. No fiddling and futzing to focus a camera.

Other bluetooth scanners will work, but we recommend the OPN 2005.

The Serial IO Scanfob 2005 is another good choice.

After some research, I’m torn between Opticon OPN2005 and the KDC200. Do you have an opinion on KDC200? Does it even work with Profit Bandit? Thanks in advance.

Yes. We have heard of some people having problems with the KDC200. We’ve never tried one ourselves, though.

So I bit the bullet and got the OPN2005. Loving it so far. Only annoying thing is the super loud beep and I can’t seem to figure out how to turn it off. Any idea?
