Amazon Prime Day 2017

Amazon Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day, the one-day discount bonanza for Prime members, is almost here! Whether or not you’re waiting for your offers to hit the lightning deals list on the big day, here are a few things you should know about it.

Prime Day is Amazon’s birthday bash. The first time Amazon threw itself a party was in July 2014, when it turned 20. So it’s a relatively new event, but don’t underestimate its potential. As Amazon promises to push a more ‘wide-ranging marketing’ strategy this year, sales forecasts for 2017 are encouraging.

The date isn’t set in stone, and Amazon is notoriously secretive about it. But it tends to be the second Tuesday of the month, in Prime Day Week. So our money’s on July 11 2017. It runs for 30 hours, meaning it starts at 6 pm PDT on the previous day.

While sellers can’t expect Black Friday sales outside of gift-giving season, they’re hoping to tap into the rising affluent buyer base this year. Especially since it was only last week that Amazon’s stock value reached the all-time high of $1,000 per share, so the outlook for Q3 is positive.

Over 70% of online shoppers are likely to skim through Amazon Prime Day in search of a bargain. That’s according to a recent article by Digital Commerce citing a survey result from Bizrate Insights. And this can only mean good things for sellers.

Of course, you have to be in it to win it. So, if your items have been selected to run and you’re hoping to sell via FBA on the day, you need to make the two-week deadline. Remember to send your Prime Day Lightning Deals inventory to the fulfillment center for delivery and processing by June 20, 2017.

We’ll be sharing Amazon Prime Day tips and pointers later this month, as we did last year. In the meantime, please have a look at our software section for information about applications you may find useful in the run-up to Prime Day, like our repricing tool, Sellery.
