This week in Amazon news, there are going to be new distribution centers in New Jersey, Amazon announces a new “Add-on” program and the New York Times takes a look at the e-book readers on the market today.
New Distribution Centers in NJ to Bring 1500 Jobs – Earlier this week Amazon agreed to begin paying sales tax in New Jersey next year. In addition, they’ll also be opening two new distribution centers in the state. Sounds like a pretty good deal for the state, as well as for customers in the area. Hopefully they’ll decrease delivery times to NYC. Good news for lots of FBA sellers out there!
Amazon Introduces “Add-ons” – Thousands of new items were added to the Amazon catalog this week as part of the “Add-on” program. These new items are products that are otherwise uneconomical to ship and sell on their own. They’ll help non-Prime customers to hit that $25 free-shipping threshold much more easily. A New York Times Guide to E-Books – OK, I’ll admit it, I’m slightly obsessed with e-book readers. If you’re in the market for an e-book reader, this article is one of the best I’ve seen at laying out the options available to you. And in case you want it, my recommendation is a Kindle for reading during the day and then an iPad for reading at night before bed.
