Before we get to the news, today is the last day to nominate someone for the SellerEngine Spark award! Help someone you know (it could even be you) get everything they need to launch or build their Amazon businessAmazon Business is Amazon’s wholesale ... More. You can nominate someone in less than a minute! Now, on to stories about Target’s free holiday wi-fi, huge numbers of seasonal workers and Amazon’s tips to publishers.

Target to price match and offer free wi-fi – This holiday season, Target shoppers will be able to price match Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy and Target.com. Free in-store wifi will make it easy to compare prices. It’ll also hopefully help those of you who have problems getting a good signal on your cell phones when using Profit Bandit!

Seasonal hires begin to ramp up – Amazon will hire up to 50,000 temporary workers this holiday season. Target will add up to 90,000. Other retailers, including Walmart, Macy’s and Toy’s “R” Us will add up to 50,000-80,000 as well. Looks like the holidays are just around the corner!

How publishers can sell more books on Amazon – At a conference in New York last month, Amazon’s PR director, Jon Fine, gave a talk to book marketers on how they can better use Amazon. His tips were to:

  • Make sure your books are always available in as many formats as possible.
  • Make use of the metadata, including high quality images of your books and their covers.
  • Have authors promote their work. Fine announced that Facebook integration is coming to author pages.

I think this is interesting, because it’s good advice for all sellers. Have great pictures, make sure you’re using the best images and keywords that you can and promote your products!
