Taxjar announces shopify integration

  • August 28, 2013
Reading time: 2 minutes

Our pals over at TaxJar have a big announcement today! You might remember Mark from the Q&A we did in our Profit Bandit Facebook Group a few weeks ago.

Wait, you’re not a member of the Profit Bandit Facebook Group? What are you waiting for? It’s free to join and it’s a great place to ask questions, connect with other sellers and to stay up-to-date with what’s going on in the world of Amazon sales and ecommerce. Stop by and say hello!

Anyway, today I want to share an announcement. They’re doing some really cool things to simplify the confusing process of sales tax for online sellers. Let’s see what they have up their sleeve:

August 28, 2013 — TaxJar Announces Shopify Integration

TaxJar, the online service that simplifies sales tax for ecommerce merchants, announced today the launch of their integration with Shopify. Merchants can now add their Shopify account to TaxJar to aggregate sales and tax data and simplify their sales tax reporting.

“The decision to integrate with Shopify was an easy one for us,” said Mark Faggiano, Founder and CEO of TaxJar. “First, it’s what customers wanted. Our goal is to add the features that will make their lives easier. In addition, Shopify’s robust APIs and high-quality app store allow us to give sellers the simplified experience and reports that they need to file their sales tax returns.”

Shopify has more than 60,000 active ecommerce stores and is one of the fastest growing ecommerce platforms for small business. It becomes the third channel that TaxJar users can connect to for important sales tax compliance features with other channels likely to follow.

By connecting a merchant’s various sales channels to TaxJar, a small business can easily view when their next sales tax return is due, and how much they’ve collected during the current sales tax period. But the real magic is in TaxJar’s local reporting. The local reports break down sales tax collected by a state’s local tax jurisdictions (think city or county). This allows sellers to quickly-and-easily get the data they need to tackle a state’s cumbersome sales tax return.

Integrating a Shopify account with TaxJar takes only a few minutes. All a seller needs to do is visit the Shopify app store.

TaxJar features a 30-day free trial for any new user. Pricing starts as low as $9.95 per month for small businesses doing less than 1,000 transactions per month.

About TaxJar

TaxJar was founded by small business experts with a simple mission: helping online sellers simplify the hassles of tracking and filing sales tax so they can focus on growing their businesses rather than dealing with compliance issues. The customer-driven company has a successful history of developing tax and accounting systems used by tens of thousands of small businesses to solve common operational problems.
