We’re here to show you how profitable this can be. Start by taking 5 minutes to complete the SellerEngine International Sales Challenge.

It’s Simple!
Pick 10 items from your inventory that sell really well on your marketplace. Take the ASINs and look them up on other Amazon marketplaces (if you’re selling in the US you might want to check Amazon UK, Amazon Canada or even Amazon Japan).
Did you find your items on those marketplaces?
If so, it means somebody else already created catalog pages for your items. That’s great! Because it tells you those items are probably worth selling on that marketplace.
The next step is to investigate your competition. Try to answer the following questions:
- How many competitors do you have?
- Are your competitors local sellers or international sellers, like you?
- How does your competition look like, performance wise?
- Are your Amazon performance metrics better than theirs?
- Is Amazon themselves selling the products?
- Do you think you can compete with the lowest price?
Complete this form (survey now closed) about one of your items and we’ll give you feedback on your answers. Feel free to add any questions you have about selling internationally by contacting us.
Now look at the item’s Sales Rank.
Amazon sales rank is a good way to estimate the sales potential.
If the Sales Rank is good (let’s say under 50,000, depending on category), you might want to check the item on CamelCamelCamel to see how the Sales Rank is trending. If the item has no Sales Rank, it doesn’t mean it’s not a good product. It’s possible that it was just recently added to the Amazon catalog so go ahead and check that information on the product page.
Next, review the item’s Amazon catalog page.
Many listings are created by other sellers like you, and some of them could be improved, either through better keywords or improved pictures. Having great product pages leads to more visibility and more sales.
What if I can’t find my items?
If searching by ASIN turns up no results, try searching by title. Maybe the product is already there but under a different ASIN. Again, check the competition, the sales rank and the product page.
If no similar products can be found on that venue, don’t worry, it means you’re bringing a new product to the marketplace! This is a great position to be in, because you’ll likely have no competition (at least until other sellers discover your item, too).
And that’s what we’ll be talking about next time in our series on international sales. How to create new (and great) product listings on a new marketplace.
