Encouraging buyers to leave feedback

Not all customers leave feedback and I’m sure that even the most inexperienced Amazon seller knows this. Sometimes as few as 10% of buyers leave feedback. But feedback is an important part of how Amazon judges you as a seller. A track record of outstanding feedback can result in Featured Merchant status and the chance for you to win the Buy Box.

But how can you encourage buyers to leave feedback without being a pest? Remember that Amazon sends users several automated requests for feedback. So sending direct messages through Seller Central may be overkill.

If you merchant-fulfill your items and use Amazon’s packing slip, it has a notice on it reminding buyers to leave feedback. If you create your own packing slips, consider including something like this as well.

A creative option is inserting a (neatly!) handwritten note requesting feedback. I’ve had excellent success with this method, although it can be very time consuming.

Overall though, the best way to encourage buyers to leave feedback is to be exceptional in all aspects of your service:

Commit yourself to being an outstanding seller and you’ll see it reflected in the feedback that you receive.
