The French Won’t Stop Buying Books – Ebooks only make up 1.8% of publishing sales in France, compared to nearly 6.5% in the United States. For whatever reason, be it nostalgia, culture, or something else entirely, the French seem determined to hang on to paper books as long as possible. This could be great news for booksellers who are willing to sell on Amazon.fr. Have you thought about it? It’s easier than you think. Find out how you can start selling internationally.

Japan Doubles Consumption Tax – Starting in April of 2014, the national consumption (sales) tax will increase to 8% before topping out at 10% in October of 2015. Currently, it sits at 5%. The planned increase is intended to avoid a “Greece-like financial crisis.” Any thoughts on how it will affect online sales, especially on Amazon.jp?

Rite Aid Launches Amazon.com Storefront – Earlier this week, Rite Aid pharmacy opened an Amazon.com storefront with over 8,000 items. As of this writing, they still have no customer feedback and are listed, unsurprisingly, as a “New Seller.” Hopefully this added competition isn’t too much for sellers who specialize in Health and Beauty and other categories sold by Rite Aid.
