This week in Amazon news, a seller comes up with a new (but illegal) source for inventory and Target announces plans to remove Kindles from its shelves.
Woman Sells Library Books on Amazon– I’m all for thinking up new and innovative ways to source products, but Maria Nater, 45 of Vista, California went too far. She took more than 2,000 books and DVDs from her local library and began selling them on Amazon! When the police searched her home they found some books already packaged and ready to ship! I hope those buyers leave her negative feedback!
Target to Stop Selling Kindles – Earlier this year, Target executives sent a letter to vendors saying, “What we aren’t willing to do is let online-only retailers use our brick-and-mortar stores as a showroom for their products and undercut our prices.” This week, perhaps as an extension of this, Target announced that they would no longer sell Kindles in their stores. They’ll continue to sell Nooks, iPads and other e-readers, however. Do you ever worry that big box stores will make it harder for you to scout and purchase inventory? If they do, don’t go to the library!
