Amazon.com catalog blows past 200m items

200+ Million Items in the Amazon.com Catalog

Can you believe it? There are more than 200 million items in Amazon.com’s catalog. In fact, as of this writing there are 211,299,195 items. And by the time you finish reading this email, there’s likely to be several thousand more.

Last September, the catalog contained 164,429,479 items. That’s an increase of nearly 175,000 items a day! According to the Food Marketing Institute, the average number of items carried in a supermarket is nearly 40,000.

That means that Amazon is adding more than 4 grocery stores full of unique products, every day of the week.
