We posted about this on our Twitter yesterday, but wanted to make sure that our SellerEngine Plus users who use Sales Rank in their repricing schemas were aware of the Amazon changes to Sales Rank in the media category.
We want to bring to your attention a significant change to Amazon’s Sales Rank Calculation for
the Movies & TV category. Within the past few days, Amazon consolidated the Sales Rank algorithm
of all video formats into a single group—So DVDs, BluRay, and VHS will share ranking with streaming
video, TV shows, and every other video medium.The effects of this change can be dramatic for certain sub-categories; Where a DVD may have had a Sales Rank of 10,000 before,
after it’s been recalculated by the new aggregated formula, the rank may now be 100,000.
