Amazon Releases List of 20 Most Well-Read Cities – Is your hometown on the list? I was surprised by a few of them, especially Miami at number 6! I guess lots of people are reading on the beach! I was excited to see Gainesville in the Top 10. Go Gators!
Got $600,000 laying around? Advertise on the Kindle Fire! – Start advertising on the Kindle Fire’s home screen. Some users are worried that they’ll start seeing ads on Kindle Fires that they’ve already purchased. Ad buyers aren’t sure how many users are actually going to see their advertisements! And Amazon is staying characteristically quiet. Personally, I wouldn’t sign up just yet, as Apple dropped the price of its iAd program from an initial $1 million to $100,000 and Amazon may be pressed to do the same.
Is Amazon’s Future a Riddle? – David Einhorn, a respected financial analyst, expressed concerns over Amazon’s shrinking margins and inability to grow profits alongside its booming sales. He says, “there’s an elephant in the room,” referring to the lack of attention given to Amazon’s future profitability. In the past Einhorn’s comments have sparked big moves in individual stock prices. I wonder how much weight investors will give to his comments on Amazon? Are you concerned by these shrinking margins?
