What do New Fulfillment Centers Mean for Sellers? – Amazon announces plans to create two new fulfillment centers in California, including a 950,000 square foot facility in San Bernardino. More locations to send FBA merchandise could mean more split shipments for FBA sellers. But at the same time, it will allow for Amazon to improve delivery times for customers. Looking beyond the inconvenience and costs of split shipments how do you feel about these new fulfillment centers?
Amazon Enters the World of High Fashion – By partnering with big names like Michael Kors, Jack Spade and others, Amazon is poised to become a major player in high fashion retail. This is in addition to Amazon’s MyHabit.com, a flash sale site like Gilt Groupe, which has built a following since its introduction a year ago. As a seller do you like to see Amazon expand into new product areas?
Harry Potter Comes to Kindle’s Lending Library – Starting on June 19th, Amazon Prime subscribers will be able to borrow Harry Potter books from the Kindle Lending Library. This is great news for fans of the series, but probably won’t make many booksellers happy. Maybe there’ll be a bump in sales of non-media Harry Potter merchandise as a result?
