Tweet all about it!

If you’re a Twitter user and an Amazon shopper, you will love this! You’re now able to add items to your Amazon shopping cart with a single tweet, including the hashtag #AmazonCart.

Can you think of a better way for Amazon to attract new customers and let them add items to their shopping cart?

Keep reading to find out more.

On May 5th, Amazon announced that Twitter users can buy products from Amazon with only a hashtag. If you’re totally into tweeting, you’ll probably love that you’ll be able to buy an item that you saw on your Twitter feed and don’t want to forget about.

Amazon and Twitter

Here’s how it works:

  1. First, you have to connect your Amazon and Twitter accounts.
  2. Then reply using hashtag #AmazonCart to any tweet with an Amazon product link.
  3. Check out whenever you’re ready. The item will be waiting in your cart.

You’ll also receive a reply tweet and a confirmation email from Amazon.

Currently, #AmazonCart is only available for Amazon.com customers. However a similar hashtag, #AmazonBasket was also created for shoppers on Amazon.co.uk.

I think this is a smart move for both platforms in their mission to attract more customers and followers. Amazon has had its ups and downs lately in the United States, most recently in the many areas where sales tax is now being charged. Research lead by  Ohio University shows that buyers reduced their spending by 10% immediately after  sales tax is introduced.

And Twitter needs all the help it can get, with its stock price tanking to $29 a share recently after hundreds of millions of shares belonging to employees were able to be sold on the open market, causing the stock price to drop by more than 10%. And let’s not forget that most analysts believe that Twitter won’t be profitable for another year or so, or best.
