Amazon disbursements failure. don’t push the panic button

A Scary Message

With Halloween just around the corner, I thought I’d share a scary message that Amazon sent out recently.

Keep reading to find out more.

Many European Amazon sellers, including those on Amazon.de, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.it, received a notification titled, “Failure to Disburse Funds.”

Dear Seller,

Your most recent transfer in the amount of $1,000,000 (wishful thinking ) was not successfully deposited into your bank account on file ending in 01234.

The funds were returned to us and we have removed the current bank account information from your seller account. To receive funds you will need to update your bank account information by following these instructions:

1. Log in to your seller account and go to your seller account information page.
2. In the Deposit Method section, click Edit.
3. Update your account with a valid bank account and routing number.
Your funds will be deposited in the updated bank account on the next scheduled transfer date.

Thank you for selling on Amazon.

The Amazon disbursements failure message was repeated several times throughout the day and included varying amounts. This gave sellers the impression that they did not receive their disbursement for days and days of sales.

Of course many sellers checked first with Amazon by opening a case. But perhaps some of them changed their bank account information because they always do what Amazon says.

Amazon’s Response

After several panic attacks and questions Amazon released a notification that you can see in your seller account:

Greetings,

Currently, a technical issue is causing incorrect messages about failed disbursements to be sent to sellers.

All disbursements have been debited and are visible in the seller account.

In order to resolve this problem, we had to hide the bank account data in the related accounts. Once this has been fixed, the bank account data will appear again in Seller Central.

We are working to resolve this issue with highest priority.

Remember to Keep Calm

In the future, remember that it is always better to check first with Amazon whenever you are not sure about payment transfers. Especially if a notification from them might not seem that logical.

Sometimes even a genius – like Amazon- gets it wrong.
