  1. It started out with a catalog of 1 million books but no physical inventory. Talk about cutbacks!
  2. Amazon got its name because website listings on search engines were arranged in alphabetical order in 1994, and the name ‘Cadabra’ just didn’t cut it. Surprise, surprise!
  3. Bezos supports critical thinking to the extent that Amazon employees write their presentations down as essays, rather than PowerPoint slides. You can quote us on that!
  4. One Amazon customer placed an order for a CD on cells costing nearly $3 billion in 2010. That, plus the $3.99 shipping fee. What a steal!
  5. Like all other employees, Jeff Bezos spends 2 days every 2 years tending to customers’ needs at the helpdesk. We wouldn’t want to be in his shoes. Oh, wait, we would!
